Recolight
Who are Recolight? The UK’s leading specialist WEEE compliance scheme for Gas Discharge Lamps (GDLs). Established by the UK lamp industry, our members include major producers and importers of WEEE who put new lamps onto the UK market. It is their responsibility to ensure the safe treatment and disposal of GDLs. We manage this responsibility on their behalf, ensuring the recycling of lamps is simple and efficient.
What do we do? We organise and finance collection and treatment services, offer advice and support and raise awareness amongst businesses and consumers. Aiming to maximise recycling levels, not profits, we have uniquely built a strong and viable lamp recycling network (RecoNet) for business users to help us achieve this.
How does it work? As a not-for-profit company all income received from our members is used to provide services necessary to encourage lamp recycling and compliance with the regulations. This includes providing collection options to users, purchasing of logistics and recycling services and developing marketing programmes and projects to raise awareness for businesses and households.
How can we help you? On behalf of our members we have established a network of over 1,000 collection points (RecoNet), through which millions of GDLs are collected annually. We offer three types of service to help make lamp recycling simple, and efficient for all:
Regular collections from site – if you have reasonable volumes per month on a regular basis, we can provide a storage container and a recycler to contact when the container is full. “On-demand” collections – For situations where you have occasional, but reasonable volumes , we can organise a one-off collection of the waste. Small volumes - for businesses that have very few lamps, you can log on to the Recolight website and use the postcode search facility on our mapping tool.
