JTL

JTL is the leading work based learning provider to the building services engineering sector in England and Wales, offering Advanced Apprenticeships to 16 and 24 year olds in Plumbing, Electrical, Engineering Maintenance, Heating and Ventilation and Motor Rewind.

The JTL apprenticeship schemes attract government funding for young people between the ages of 16 to 24 supporting 8,000 apprentices working with 4,000 businesses. All the off-site training, college tuition and on-site apprentice assessments are provided free by fully qualified Training Officers.

A JTL apprenticeship is a big commitment and competition can be tough; more than 30,000 young people annually apply to start a JTL apprenticeship, but only around 3,000 are lucky enough to gain a place each year.

Apprentices study theory at college and training centres in order to become a qualified craftsperson with a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification, while a dedicated JTL Training Officer to support firms and their apprentices every step of the way.

Following training, all apprentices are fully qualified. For instance, electricians are issued with the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) cards, are registered with the JIB and recorded on the national role of recognised electricians.

Delivering more Advanced Apprenticeships than anyone else in the sector, up to 75 per cent of all electricians who qualify each year have done so with JTL.
