Employees turn Recession into Progression

Wilts, the UK’s largest independent electrical wholesaler, has announced the launch of its third Management Academy.

Employees turn Recession into Progression

Despite the current economic climate, the Trowbridge-based company has remained committed to promoting employee development once again by continuing its popular Management Academy, launched for the first time in 2007.

Open to all of Wilts’ 600+ employees, the 2011 programme will enable members to develop and progress their careers within the company, guiding them through modules including leadership, customer service, sales, employee relations and law.

The Academy is being run in conjunction with one of Wilts’ top suppliers, MK Electric.  MK Electric is the UK’s leading manufacturer of wiring devices, cable management and circuit protection products. With a similar philosophy to Wilts, MK focus on their employees by helping them to learn, grow and develop.

According to HR Director Ruth Ovens, the Management Academy is a worthwhile exercise despite the testing times. She said; “This is the third academy we have made available to our staff. It is extremely popular and feedback only serves to highlight the desire within our workforce to develop and further their careers, which we are delighted to encourage.”

She continues; “The successful format has been clearly demonstrated by the promotion of several previous participants and we are looking forward to excellent results once again.”

As an accredited member of the Investors in People scheme, the academy reinforces Wilts’ commitment to providing the opportunity to improve performance and realise objectives through the management and development of people.
