Answer:
"CE Marking" is a "technical passport" which indicates that a product conforms to the essential requirements of all relevant Directives which require CE Marking.
CE Marking by itself does not indicate which Directive(s) is/are applicable. This information may, if required, be sought from the manufacturer of the product.
These Directives comprise mandatory European Union legislation implemented by Regulations in all member countries. Their purpose is to allow free movement of goods that are safe and fit for purpose into and within the European Union. Conversely, they are to prevent free movement of goods that are not safe and fit for purpose into and within the European Union.
CE Marking is not a quality mark and it does not necessarily indicate that testing or certification has been carried out on the product to which it is applied.
The CE Marking can appear on the product, packaging, documentation, or any combination of these, depending upon which Directive it has to comply with.
