Many thanks to all those who wrote in with suggestions for a collective noun for electricians. We had many answers to the question and we have decided to run a poll to identify which one is your favourite! Go to the bottom of this article to register your vote...
Here are some of our favourites and reasons for the choice (not including the rude ones!):
- A SHOCK of Electricians - It’s always a shock if you see more than two together;
- A Rodeo of Electricians - because they are bunch of Cowboys;
- A Confusion of Electricians - due to Part P;
- A Joule of Electricians - because people think all sparkies are diamonds;
- A Bond of Electricians - beacuse Electricians always stick together ;
- A Fuse of Sparkies - because thats what the cookhouse chefs referred to us as about 20 years ago on a military construction project with the Army in northern England;
- A Zombie of Sparks - A person apparently without awareness, will, or energy. I know i have seen young groups of them, some call them apprentices;
- A Kirchhoff - two laws and two reasons, one to do with conservation of charge, the other regarding net gain in pd being zero - guess I'm just being morose about my cash flow!!;
- An ohm of Electricians - because we all live in an ohm!;
- A sharp intake of breath - because you need one when there are many electricians about;
- a pile (as in Voltaic pile);
- A shockin bunch;
