Each Electrical Vehicle must have one socket outlet that satisfies 722.55.101. 722.311 states that where the final circuit supplies more than one charging point no diversity shall be allowed.

Diversity may be allowed for a dedicated distribution circuit supplying multiple electric vehicle charging points if load control is available.

Some manufacturers may provide an option with their equipment that allows load sharing so diversity can be applied. However, if this is not available or feasible for the installation, the final circuit should be designed and installed to account for the full load of the number of EV charge points on the circuit.

It is advisable to check with the manufacturer of the EV charge point to ascertain the maximum cable sizes for the equipment terminals and that your choice of connections, cabling and accessories meet the general requirements of BS7671:2018.
