The suitability of Creda NOBO’s Series 8 range of convector heaters for a wide range of applications owes much to the sophisticated range of control systems available. These range from individual room controllers, perfect for student accommodation, to a cable remote system for hotels and commercial buildings, and the Orion 700 system for new build apartment homes.

The heaters themselves are available as the C4N Slimline version with six output ratings from 500W to 2,000W and as Creda NOBO’s market leading low surface temperature (LST) heater for safety critical applications, which is available with outputs of 500W, 800W and 1,000W. Comfort for students The Series 8 CGL module individual room controller is for rooms requiring intermittent heating, such as students’ study bedrooms. It ensures that room temperatures are controlled individually and rooms are comfortable when occupied. Soon after the occupant heads out to the next lecture, library or social activities the controller returns the heating to economy model, saving both energy and money. Using highly accurate plug-in electronic thermostats, comfort control is achieved through a built-in push button runback timer that responds rapidly to pre-set maximum temperatures. There is also the option of a pre-programmed morning two hour boost to comfort temperatures. “Today, most students are highly cost conscious, but they also need to be warm in order to study effectively and for the sake of their health. Series 8 Slimline heaters with our highly specified control systems are therefore ideal for halls of residence.” says Martin Shepherd, Creda NOBO Sales Director. Controls for hotels and offices Wanton energy wastage is a big issue for hotels since guests are often not as economical when using an unfamiliar system. Creda NOBO’s cable remote control system overcomes this by allowing for remote switching between comfort, economy and frost control settings where Series 8 heaters are used. With the cable control system, heaters fitted with GCH type thermostats can be linked into the key card facility to save energy and cost. Heaters remain in economy mode until the key card is inserted into the switch to allow the room to be warmed to comfort level. When departing, guests remove the key card and the heater returns to economy mode. Alternatively, an energy management system can be operated from reception; and Creda NOBO also offers PIR (passive infra-red) detection as a further means of controlling Series 8 heaters. Cable remote control is also suitable for commercial buildings where Series 8 heaters are fitted with GCO thermostats. These modules can be controlled from a central timer or building management system to provide frost protection overnight and for weekends and holiday periods. PIR systems can also be used to switch between comfort and economy usage when buildings are used intermittently. Orion multi zone wireless RF programmers These programmers represent the ultimate solution for new build apartments since they facilitate the reduction of both energy usage and occupants’ running costs. Orion multi zone wireless RF programmers are primarily used to control the heating in a wide range of individual zones in living rooms, bedroom and hallways. However, the fact that they can manage up to 100 zones independently of each other also means that they can be used to control such applications as table lamps, hot water systems, towel rails and smart home electronics in addition to the Series 8 heaters. As far as the heating is concerned, the Orion 700 sends digital radio frequency signals to dedicated receivers in each Creda NOBO heater. This allows the user to choose the settings required on a half hourly, daily or weekly basis, switching between economy and comfort as required.
