Question: Can anyone advise me as to whether the supply cable to a mag lock control panel that is controlled via volt free contacts on a fire alarm panel has to be wired in fire rated cable?

At present, it is wired from the fire alarm spur in FP200 cable, and I need to put them on a separate supply. As they are wired in FP200, I do not know whether this can be wired in PVC twin and earth cable.

Answer: The mains supply to a fire alarm panel requires to be wired using fire resisting cable.

The mains supply to an associated door release control panel, however, does not require to be wired using fire resisting cable.
