Schneider Electric unveils next‑generation Altivar HVAC drives to boost energy efficiency, reliability, and smart building performance

Improved system uptime, and seamless integration into modern Building Management Systems (BMS), the range brings higher efficiency, smarter operation, and built‑in protections for demanding HVAC applications.

The new drives support a wide spectrum of environments, from commercial buildings and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ‑built equipment to mission‑critical facilities such as hospitals, airports, and data centers. The lineup combines smart connectivity, robust protection features, compatibility with sustainable refrigerants, and cybersecurity‑ready performance. The ATH200 is optimized for OEMs and compact HVAC equipment, helping shorten engineering cycles while meeting new sustainability standards. The ATH600 is perfect for mission-critical and high-performance‑ buildings that require advanced control, continuous operation, and deeper system integration.

With HVAC systems playing an essential role in maintaining airflow, temperature stability, and overall building performance, the Altivar HVAC Drive family helps organizations ensure reliable operation across diverse conditions. Capable of operating from −10°C to 60°C, the drives withstand mechanical, thermal, electrical, and environmental stress. This ensures uninterrupted performance in demanding applications, from rooftop units to plant rooms and outdoor enclosures.

“With the Altivar HVAC Drives, we are redefining what performance, reliability, and security mean for modern HVAC infrastructure,” said Xiao HU, SVP Industrial Control and Drives. “We engineered the range to support long-term sustainability and safety, from responsibly sourced materials to firmware upgradeability. These capabilities help customers reduce downtime, protect equipment, and meet evolving energy and environmental regulations.”

The new Altivar HVAC Drives simplify installation with built in electromagnetic compatibility filtering, integrated motor thermal protection, and native Modbus and BACnet communication, eliminating the need for external contactors and reducing wiring complexity. Their consistent 200millimeter cabinet size and use of REACH, RoHS, and ASIcompliant materials support faster deployment and more sustainable building practices.

Designed for future‑ready performance, the drives offer IEC 62443‑4‑2 Security Level 1 cybersecurity certification, secure firmware integrity checks, and upgradeable firmware. With A2L certification and A3 refrigerant readiness up to 25 horsepower, they support today’s low–global warming potential and next‑generation refrigerants used in modern chillers, heat pumps, and HVAC systems.

Schneider Electric’s HVAC ecosystem, combining Altivar HVAC Drives, Modicon M172/M173 controllers, and Harmony HMIs, enables OEMs and system integrators to deliver smarter, more energy efficient HVAC equipment faster. With built-in application libraries and seamless integration into building automation, these solutions reduce commissioning time, streamline design, and ensure long-term operational performance.
