Q & A of the Day - Which regs provide guidance on requirements for LPG tanks?
Question: We have been asked to provide a quotation for earthing existing liquid propane gas (LPG) storage tanks at the rear of a hotel 'to comply with current regulations'.

Can you advise which regulations would provide guidance on the requirements?

Answer: Under current BS7671:2008 (17th Edition) there is no requirement to bond the LPG tanks outside.

Where the gas pipe comes into the property, the same requirements as your gas and water main coming into the property exists. Please refer to Regulation 411.3.1.2.

For the location of the bonding, refer to Regulation 544.1.2.
