Q & A of the Day - What size of three-phase meter tails?
This Q & A is one of thousands posted in our Technical Expertise area, and answered on a daily basis by our Voltimum Experts.

Question: I wonder if you could tell me the following - I need to know the meter tail size for single insulated tails contained within metal trunking, for an 80kVA three-phase and neutral incoming supply?

Answer: From your information, you will have a load current of just under 110A/phase and, therefore, 35mm tails should suffice.

You would need to increase to 50mm tails if your design current is between 110 and 134 A/phase.
