Q & A of the Day - What lighting to make shop fabrics look their best?
Question: My customer needs to light a fabric shop, and has asked that the lighting should not affect the appearance of the various materials colours. What lighting do I need to offer my customer?

Answer: Filament lamps and daylight do not affect the colour appearance of surfaces, but other lamps can affect the colour seen by the customer.

Fluorescent lamps are available in different qualities of colour rendering from adequate to accurate. For this application, a lamp with a colour rendering index Ra>90 is required, but please note that these lamps have a lower lumen output to standard RA80 triphosphor lamps.
