James Graham asks this question, which concerns the frequency of periodic testing for a garage workshop electrical installation. It has been answered by the NICEIC (Theme – Regulations & Legislation):
Question: Can you please tell me the required frequency for periodic testing on a garage workshop electrical installation?
Also, are there any particular problems that might occur with such testing?
Answer: It is down to the person concerned to suggest a maximum period before the next inspection.
This could be influenced by the frequency of maintenance and the period since the last report was carried out. It could also be influenced by the extent to which the workshop is being used and the external influences that may be placed upon it.
It is recommended that any period of testing does not exceed five years.
