Question: What are the options available when asked to fit a Class 1 metal light fitting to an installation having no earths in the lighting circuit?
Answer: You would be required to install a suitable circuit protective conductor (CPC) for the fitting.
Alternatively, you would need to replace the fitting with a Class II double insulated fitting.
On no account should you install Class I fitting with no CPC connected.
