Q & A of the Day - Must I feed this garage's consumer unit with 25mm tails?
Question: When fitting a garage consumer unit next to the main house consumer unit and using a service connector block, if the tails are 25mm to the house consumer unit, will I have to feed the garage consumer unit with 25mm tails as well?

Answer: Not necessarily. If the second consumer unit is only supplying a small amount of load with the appropriate overload protection, and the service fuse can be shown to provide adequate fault protection for the smaller tails using the adiabatic equation. Under these circumstances, it would be permissible to fit smaller tails.
