Q & A of the Day – Is mineral insulated wiring OK for container wiring?
This Q & A is one of thousands posted in our Technical Expertise area, and answered on a daily basis by our Voltimum Experts.

Question: All the wiring in a transportable 40ft container facility is clipped directly to a metal surface and the majority of the circuits are made using mineral insulated, copper clad material.

I cannot find anything in the table that matches this, neither in the current nor my available legacy editions of BS7671. Please advise….?

Answer: You should probably use Number 30 (see p262 of BS 7671:2008), which is Reference Method C.
