Question: I have just begun to receive a number of calls from landlords with HMO properties requiring fire alarm periodic test/servicing certificates for their domestic fire alarm systems. Apparently, the landlords have just received requests by the Local Authority for certificates but cannot, when pressed, state exactly what they want. Does anyone produce a certificate particularly constructed to reflect servicing and condition of a domestic system complying with BS5839-Part6 2004? The usual servicing certificates that I use obviously refer to BS5839-Part 1 2002.
Answer: BS 5839 Pt 6:2004 has model forms in Annex F expressly for the design, installation and commissioning of the fire detection system.
