Q & A of the Day – For this cabling, what reference method should I use?
This Q & A is one of thousands posted in our Technical Expertise area, and answered on a daily basis by our Voltimum Experts.

Question: All the wiring in a transportable (40ft container) facility is clipped directly to a metal surface and the majority of these circuit cables are in mineral insulated, copper clad material.

I cannot find anything in the table that matches this - neither in the current, nor my available legacy editions of BS 7671. Can you please advise?

Answer: You would probably use number 30 (p262 of BS 7671:2008), which is Reference Method C.

However, see also p268 for Table 4C1 and p298 for table 4G1A.
