Q & A of the Day – Can I effectively use any transformer with Megaman LV lamps?

Question: I would like to know whether I can use any transformer with Megaman (or other) low voltage lamps?

Answer: It is always best to use an approved transformer that has been tested by the manufacturer. It is a sign of good quality - you can’t see inside the transformers, so have no idea about the quality of components or the complexity of the circuit inside.

Low cost transformers often have very low quality components on the PCB that may interfere with a lamp’s operation.

Most manufacturers will have guides to help - below is a link to our 8W MR16 lamp, for instance, and there is a comprehensive list shown of what works fine.
