Everyday we need to check for voltage, prove dead, ‘bell out’ and check that loads are what they are supposed to be. There is also a new requirement for checking the current flowing in the CPC to look out for an open PEN conductor outside of the installation which may mean that an adjacent property is making use of your CPC to provide a neutral return path. Kewtech’s new KT5 is a great tool for the electrician to cover all these functions in just one instrument.
Voltage Detection
1. Non-contact voltage detection with three sensitivity levels for initial checks on cabinets before touching and an ability to trace hidden cables.
2. Single pole voltage detection that works on either probe, removing ambiguity of non-contact methods.
3. Traditional two pole voltage detection with clear backlit LED indication and LCD readout.
4. Current measurement to detect potential voltages due to open PEN situations.
Safe Isolation
The KT5 two pole test function makes it ideal for carrying out correct safe isolation procedures and can be purchased as part of a full safe isolation kit called KEWISO5. The kit includes a proving unit which is held in a pouch allowing access to the testing terminals, so ready to use at all times. A universal combination lock off is also included.
The two probes can be captive allowing for traditional two pole usage model.
The testers permanent GS38 probe tips mean there are no covers to lose or restrict you in deep reach terminals typically found on devices such as RCBOs.
TESTING TIP!
You can use the KT5's probe tip cover nose to depress the earth pin in traditional UK BS1363 socket outlets!
