EV charging expert evec promotes Tom Bloor to new Managing Director

Building upon the unprecedented success of evec over the past year, Tom will be responsible for continuing to drive evec's boundary-breaking mission to deliver the UK's most affordable chargers.

Since being founded in 2022, evec, which is part of the For Everyone Group and based in Manchester, launched into the EV market to shake up the industry with a mission to make electric vehicles accessible to all.

evec offers a fully installed charger from £749.99 and has seen astronomic growth over the past 12 months by growing relationships with wholesalers and home builders, along with growth in the B2C marketplace. The brand has huge partnerships Bumblebee EV, a member of the Arnold Clark family, Jewson and CEF, and has also driven growth in the retail world.

Tom originally joined evec’s parent company, the For Everyone Group, in 2017 (then known as OEM Appliances), working within the sales team, and has been influential in the launch and growth of both the CoolMed and evec brands.

Tom Bloor is the brains behind evec and conceived the idea for the company in early 2022. Combining his love of cars with his knowledge of the appliances market via his work with OEM, Tom identified a gap in the market for the growth of EVs. His passion for cars and knowledge of electronic appliances meant that Tom could work on growing a brand in an area he loves, bringing with him his sales experience and expertise in the sector.

In the past quarter alone, evec has seen a revenue growth of 398% in H1 of 2023 vs H2 of 2022. Combined with the urgent demand for improved EV infrastructure in the UK, Tom, in his role as Managing Director, aims to continue this growth. This will build not just on wholesaler relationships but expanding on retail relationships with B&Q and Amazon to serve B2C customers.

Stephen Johnson, CEO of evec, said: “Tom’s promotion marks our commitment to the growth of evec and Tom’s dedication to the company, which has seen us reach higher than we ever thought was possible in the past six years. I’m really excited to see where Tom will take us as the EV market grows and how he shapes the business as we start to progress into an electric future.”

Tom Bloor said, “Taking on this new challenge is a testament to the progression that our incredible team have delivered. Our goal is to make EVs accessible to everyone. That starts with price but also extends to the simplicity of installation. We want to change the infrastructure of EVs in the UK ahead of the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel cars and create a fuss-free purchase journey of having your first electric vehicle.

We also have plans for more new products and brilliant business partnerships, plus the creation of additional job roles. We’re continuously improving our business model and will be developing new versions of our chargers to incorporate the latest technologies and to further improve user experience. We want to make EVs easy as we develop further in the future.”

After the appointment to Managing Director of evec, Tom started the new role in August 2023.
