Elkay electronic timers can reduce heating costs in low occupancy rooms

A thermostatic control with touch activated temperature boost timer, the unit is designed to provide accurate heat control on heavy loads such as electric panel heaters. This makes it ideal for applications such as hotels, student accommodation, offices, industrial and commercial premises and temporary portable/site buildings. Left to the control of occasional users electrical heaters are often left on continually when a room is not being used, unnecessarily adding to the electric bill and simply wasting valuable energy.Use of Energy Saving Timers alleviates the problem of electrical appliances,such as heaters or ventilation systems, being left on continuously. They can provide significant energy savings over a relatively short period of time, particularly when used to control 3kW electric heaters, soon paying back the initial cost of the timers. The Elkay 900 electronic timer has two separate temperature settings, the Setback level and the Boost level. Setback level, or lower level, is the background temperature setting required to maintain an acceptable room temperature, for example to prevent frost. This can be set between 5ºC and 19ºC. The Boost level can be set between 16ºC and 25ºC and this is activated when required via a prominent touch panel on the faceplate of the unit. This setting has an adjustable timing range up to 2 hours and if room occupancy is still ongoing after that time has elapsed then the unit can again be activated, if required. To clearly indicate the operational status of the heater the control has two LEDs on the faceplate. The red LED indicates when the heater has been switched on, while the green LED shows activation of the boost mode. The unit can handle a powerful 16 Amp output rating for heating, ideal to control electric heaters, while it can also be used for ventilation fans and lighting. It is compatible with a 25mm deep single gang BS accessory plate.
