The Elkay pull cord timer range provides an ideal switch system for controlling general purpose loads in damp areas such as kitchen, bathrooms, shower rooms, dressing rooms, toilet blocks etc.
Designed for general purpose loads, the Type 520A is a pull cord activated timer with an adjustable timing range between 1 second and 2 hours. Two other versions are available utilising a neon indicator. The 520AT neon only illuminates when the unit is timing out, while the 520AP is permanently illuminated when mains voltage is applied to the unit.
Designed for general purpose loads the timer requires a neutral feed at the switch position allowing the timer to be used on various applications from incandescent, fluorescent and compact fluorescent lighting to heating and ventilation loads. During installation not only the time period can be set, but also a choice of three operating modes. These allow the unit to operate in either on/off, resetting or non-resetting mode to best suit the individual installation. Pulling the cord activates the unit to run through to its time out setting. The timers can be wired as master units , with slave switches used for activation. Use of Energy Saving Timers alleviates the problem of electrical appliances, such as lights, heating or ventilation systems, being left on continuously. They can provide significant energy savings over a relatively short period of time, particularly when used to control 3kW electric heaters, soon paying back the initial cost of the timers. The unit can handle a powerful 16 Amp output rating for heating, ideal to control electric heaters, while it can also be used for ventilation fans and lighting. It is supplied with M3.5 fixing screws along with blanking plugs to cover the screw heads giving a neat and tidy installation.
