This October, the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) is bringing its free Will-writing service for individuals aged over 55.

EIC to offer free wills to over 55's in October

The National Wills Report 2025 found that only 37% of UK adults have made a Will (Source: The National Will Register), demonstrating a significant decrease from prior years.

We know there can be barriers that stop people from having a Will made. One in four Brits still claim they don’t know how to make a Will, and this gap continues to deter many from beginning the process. That’s why for the entire month of October, the Electrical Industries Charity is offering a free Will writing service to everyone aged over 55 who is working or has worked in the electrical or energy industries.

Taking advantage of this free service allows our industry members to ensure their wishes are documented and their loved ones are protected. Whether you’re writing your first will or updating an old one, this service makes it easier to secure your legacy.

A Will allows individuals to decide how their assets are distributed, appoint guardians for children, and even provide for pets. It also offers an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy by including a gift to charity. If you have a cause you care about, you can leave a gift to a charity in your Will. Many charities rely on gifts in Wills to fund their work.

By pledging a gift to EIC, supporters can help ensure the charity continues to provide critical services – including financial assistance and mental health support – for future generations.

To access the free will-writing service, fill out the Free Wills form at https://electricalcharity.org/october-free-wills-month-2/

Those who are aged under 55 will have another chance to get a free Will in March.

To register your interest early, fill out the form above and tick the checkbox that gives the EIC permission to keep your details on file until March.
