Question: Is a wall-mounting luminaire, which is in a manufacturer's catalogue under the section heading of outdoor lighting, and which has an IP rating of IP 44, suitable to be mounted on a domestic wall exposed to rain?
Answer: Yes - IP44 should be fine to mount on an external domestic wall installation, such as you describe.
