The ECA 2003 Apprentice Awards recognised the outstanding achievements of young apprentices:
The ECA Apprentice Awards for 2003 provided true recognition for the outstanding achievements of young apprentices. This year the winners came from Croydon, Peterborough, Poole and St Albans.
The winners:
The ECA Gold Medal winner was Luke Bryant, employed by Southern Electric Contracting Ltd., based in Poole. Luke was the highest placed ECA member apprentice in the City & Guilds National Results List of over 1,460 candidates. The ECA Silver Medal was awarded to Terry Pauls from Bailey Rail based in Peterborough. The ECA Bronze Medal was awarded to Alfie Langley, employed by N G Bailey & Co. Ltd. For the ‘C’ course the ECA Gold Medal winner was Neil Johnson of The Giffen Group from St Albans.
A very special feature:
Commenting on the awards, ECA President Charles McKinnon, who made the presentations at the award ceremony in London on 3 December 2003, said: "These awards are a very special feature in the ECA's calendar, providing a platform through which true recognition is provided towards the hard work of the candidates involved. This year's awards are testament to the continuing improvement in standards of apprenticeship in the industry. I am sure everyone will join me in congratulating the winners for their excellent efforts."
The ECA Apprentice Awards are based on the City & Guilds 236 Part II Theory, City & Guilds 2351 Knowledge of Electrical Installations and the City & Guilds 236 Electrical Installation Work ‘C’ course examinations.
