It’s now easier for those involved in specifying renewable heating to get extra benefit in SAP from the high performance qualities of Dimplex heat pumps, with the launch of a new Appendix Q scheme.
The new scheme allows the true performance capability of specific heat pump models to be incorporated into carbon emission calculations for new dwellings using an online database developed by the BRE which includes manufacturers’ product-specific performance details. These can be used in SAP instead of the standard default CoP performance values, allowing specifiers to benefit in their calculations from the Dimplex heat pumps’ high levels of seasonal efficiency and the resultant CO2 savings, making compliance with Building Regulations Part L and the Code for Sustainable Homes easier to achieve.
The online Appendix Q tool includes certified heat pump performance data at a range of standard operating conditions (heat source and water heating temperatures) which can be modelled in SAP against an individual building’s characteristics to provide an accurate, building specific, heat pump seasonal performance factor for heating and domestic hot water.
Overall system efficiency is then converted into CO2 emissions for inclusion within the SAP Dwelling Emission Rate calculation.
Dimplex’s SI MEH range of high temperature ground source heat pumps already features in Appendix Q and further models, such as the new LAB M air source series, will be added shortly.
