We were very shocked to hear the sad news of the recent death of Les Adams, Maintenance Delivery Manager for National Grid. Les had worked in the industry for both CEGB and National Grid for over 37 years having started as an apprentice in September 1974.

Les had been a tremendous supporter of the EEIBA for over 20 years, being both an active member and past Chairman of the Yorkshire Ridings Branch.
He had also been both a former Trustee and Chairman of the EEIBA Council.
In 2005, he and two colleagues undertook a charity cycle ride on behalf of the EEIBA riding from the National Grid's offices in Warwick to their Corporate Head Office in The Strand where they raised almost £20,000.
Les received an MBE in 2008 for services to flood rescue. He was in charge of a massive operation mounted by National Grid to prevent power cuts when flooding threatened to engulf electricity sub-stations in 2007. His efforts prevented hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses across Britain being blacked out.
He was much loved and respected by all those who knew him and our thoughts are with his family during this very sad time.
The family have requested that donations in Les's memory are made to the EEIBA.
