Our technical expert answers the question of a Voltimum user during a recent webinar on Amendment 1 of BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Question:
Can you explain what is the artificial neutral?
Answer:
What we meant by our use of the term artificial neutral was a reference point derived within electrical equipment from the line conductors of a three-phase system. The reference point is used as an alternative to a measurement earth electrode, for the purposes of the voltage monitoring device described in Regulation 722.411.4.1 (iii), as explained in indent (b) of Item A722.4 of Annex 722.
