THE LIA LABORATORY The LIA Laboratory is Europe’s largest independent test laboratory dedicated to lighting. Based in Telford, Shropshire, UK, the LIA Lab is the largest facility of its type in Europe. With a 12,500 sq ft purpose-built lab and state-of-the-art testing equipment, it provides a national testing asset for the whole of the lighting industry. Accredited by UKAS and as a National Certiﬁcation Body under the IECEE, the LIA Laboratory has the capability of providing several certiﬁcation services including CB Certiﬁcation and our very own LIA Schemes. We offer application engineering and luminaire performance services, and complete laboratory photometry services. In addition to testing we inspect and certify products. We help you improve product performance and gain efﬁciencies (in both manufacturing and logistics). Our testing services support you in overcoming market constraints and reducing risk. PERFORMANCE TESTING Our state of the art photometry equipment combined with our expert team of photometry engineers make us the number one choice for all of your luminaire performance measurement requirements. SAFETY TESTING At our UKAS Accredited Laboratory we have the capacity to test a large range of luminaires from general domestic luminaires to emergency luminaires. From the moment we receive your testing samples we assure you a personalised service from start to ﬁnish. THE LIA SCHEMES LIA Gonio and Sphere Scheme. Validate your Goniophotometer and integrating sphere measurements and data with The LIA Gonio scheme or The LIA Sphere scheme giving you third party assessment and conﬁdence in your test results. With support from the experts at The LIA, you will undergo an annual inspection/audit of your Laboratory/Facilites to verify the suitability of the Photometric equipment, ensure your documentation is correct and to review the technical competence of the photometry staff. We also check the measurement process. By meeting the requirements of this scheme you will beneﬁt from: • Describing yourself as a ‘LIA Laboratory registered photometric laboratory’ and be listed on the LIA Laboratory certiﬁcation website. • Save time and money on producing your photometric measurements in house. • You are able to demonstrate compliance and competence in the quality of your measurements. • Save money on the LIA Veriﬁed scheme as we can use your photometric measurements, resulting on a lower cost overall. • Receive continuous support from our certiﬁcation team. LIA UMSUG Scheme • This scheme has been established by The LIA to provide validation of power measurements for lighting products that require unmetered supply applications (UMS). • As with all of our schemes you will be required to undergo an annual inspection/audit to verify the adequacy of your measurement equipment, documentation and to ensure the technical competence of your staff members. We also check the measurement process. • When you have obtained your measurements in house you then send over your data sheets to our Certiﬁcation team at the LIA Laboratory who will check your results and convert to an ofﬁcial LIA report, for submission to ELEXON. • The Ideal scheme for those who require multiple UMSUG tests without the repeated testing costs. LIA Laboratory is a registered ISO/IEC 17025 accredited test house with the capability of carrying out UMSUG measurements both in house and we also have the availability to send one of our expert engineers to your site to carry out this testing, to provide you with the required report for submission to ELEXON for your ﬁnal charge code.

With so many questionable lighting products on the market it can be hard for distributors to differentiate good quality from bad.The LIA Veriﬁed scheme has been created in response to the industry’s desire to identify quality products so that members of the scheme can declare a trustworthy third party veriﬁcation of three key elements – Safety, Performance and Life capability. OTHER SERVICES AVAILABLE Upgrading your existing BS EN 60598 Safety report from 2008 to 2015:As we near the end of the 2008 edition of BS EN 60598 many of you may be wondering about the extra costs it is going to take to re assess your product to the updated 2015 edition standard. Here at LIA Laboratory we offer a service of upgrade that provides limited testing to only the differences between standards making this transition easier for you. If you have a 2008 certiﬁcate from a third party test house that is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited we can offer this service to you. Fault Finding InvestigationsDo you have a product that is continuously failing but you cannot quite get to the bottom of why? Our fault ﬁnding investigation service provides lighting expert engineers to carry out a detailed assessment on your faulty product in comparison to a working version to try and ﬁnd out where your product is failing and why, you will also receive an LIA report of ﬁndings to support your product.
