Legrand has available a recently-introduced range of smoke alarms. Aimed at the residential market, the range consists of three different alarms: ionisation, optical (photo-electrical) and heat:
The Legrand smoke alarms, each available with an optional pattress box, offer superior sensing technology and are mains hardwired with a nine-volt battery back up for continuity in the event of mains failure. Each alarm is fitted with LED status indicators and an easily accessible test button to check sensitivity, alarm circuits and the alarm horn.
Designed to facilitate installation, the low profile alarms have push-fit connectors and a detachable base plate. In addition, every Legrand smoke alarm comes with a five-year guarantee as standard.
Legrand Product Manager, Boota S Sivia said; "The kite-marked smoke alarm range achieves BS 5446 Part 1 1990 and is therefore ideal for the residential market. We envisage the range to be particularly suitable for housing associations, local authorities and house-builders."
Greater safety in linking:
For greater safety, any combination of up to 12 Legrand smoke alarms can be interlinked. When one alarm sounds, all connected alarms will follow - ideal for use in commercial and multiple-occupancy domestic properties.
The ionisation alarm is particularly effective for detecting fast flaming fires since it reacts to small particles that are often invisible to the human eye, such as polyurethane foam found in older furniture.
Optical (photo-electrical) alarms are especially adept at detecting slow-burning or smouldering fires prevalent with PVC or foam filled furniture and bedding material.
All new builds must have heat alarms:
Building regulations now require all new builds to have a heat alarm fitted in the kitchen area, since this is the most common source of domestic fires. Used in conjunction with a compatible smoke alarm, heat alarms provide vital back up in areas most at risk from fire.
Boota S Sivia added; "Working smoke alarms offer vital protection from the dangers of fire in the home. The Legrand early warning alarm system provides precious time in which lives can be saved and injury prevented.
Available throughout Legrand's main stockists, the range is currently being demonstrated throughout the UK by our sales team".
