Schneider Electric creates a 14.5% energy saving at Hilton through smart building technology

Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation, energy management, and automation, has announced a series of talks that will explore the digital solutions which make net zero hotels and energy savings a reality today.

The hotel industry is the most energy intensive of all commercial real estate classes, so it is under increasing pressure to reduce emissions. The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance found that the hotel industry needs to reduce its carbon emissions by 66% per room by 2030, and by 90% per room by 2050 to meet international targets. In addition, Booking.com’s Sustainability Report 2021, found that 73% of travellers would be more likely to choose accommodation if it has implemented sustainability practices.

Embracing potential actions for carbon reduction, hotels of the future will use more autonomous and proactive approaches to achieve their sustainability, operational, and guest satisfaction goals over the entire life cycle of their property assets.

Schneider Electric’s smart building solutions are used in popular hotels around the world. This includes global hotel brand Hilton which, with EcoStruxure Building, has created a sustainable energy-management strategy for their international properties, resulting in 14.5% energy savings since 2009. Schneider Electric’s new webinar series hopes to provide information on sustainable digital solutions, not only for existing hotels but new builds as well.

The first webinar of the Innovation Talks will be on:

  • 2nd March 11.00am GMT – Making hotels of the future a reality today

The series will be made up of three additional webinars, which will take part later in the year, these will include:

  • Sustainable and efficient operations powered by digital solutions

  • Creating carbon free hotels from design to operation

This talk covers how smart building technology could be integrated to build sustainable hotels, from design to operation.

“The hospitality industry, like many others, requires constant power supply to run. This can be achieved even when sustainable practices are at the forefront of all operations. Innovative products and digital solutions can be utilised for new builds, to guarantee we prioritise the environment as we move forward. Not only that, but the same solutions also give us the tools and insights necessary to retrofit older builds, to optimise their operations and reduce their carbon footprint” said Kas Mohammed, VP Digital Energy at Schneider Electric. “We expect our talks will provide the hospitality industry with useful insight into the products and services which can truly drive energy efficiency and sustainability performance.”
