Voltimum swipes through the new Philips Lighting app to see what it has to offer for installers.

As the name suggests, The Philips Lighting Catalogue app makes the brands entire lighting range accessible to you with just a few taps on your smartphone.
The app has been designed to give users instant access to product information with a focus on helping you plan well, execute fast and work efficiently. Rather than downloading and sifting through PDFs to find the right product for the job, the app allows you to filter through product type and product family in just a couple of taps. Upon clicking on a product, you can quickly scroll through technical information, specification and downloads. The app also allows you to compare products- so you can, for example, display the technical spec of two different LED lamps side by side. All of these features are geared towards helping you make a swift but informed purchasing choice.
Other key features you will find in the app include a ‘Favourites’ section, where you mark your regularly used products and access them quickly. There’s a ‘Shopping List’ function, where you can keep track of the products selected for a project and easily share with your team, clients and your wholesaler. There is also a ‘Dealer’ option which allows you to locate your nearest Philips Lighting dealer using via post code.
You can also find application notes and case studies to support your product selection.
Verdict:
This is a simple but slick looking app that is easy to navigate. If you use Philips Lighting products regularly then I can definitely see this saving you time as you specify the lamps you need for a job and communicate your requirements with a colleague or your wholesaler. It looks like the plan is to add RRP information to the product pages which I’m sure will be a welcome feature when comparing products for a job with a certain budget in mind.
If you are sick of catalogues and want an efficient way to identify and share product information then this is the app for you!
The app is available in the App Store for IOS devices and Google Play for Android users.
