Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons Ltd has been appointed main contractor by Hanro Ltd for a seven-storey office building at The Strawberry Public House, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. This £30 million project comprises the office building with basement levels, rooftop plant and ground floor retail and a restaurant. A 10-storey, 167 bedroom hotel will also be provided, as well as a three-storey office building with ground floor retail unit. Ryder HKS, Turner & Townsend Group, 3E Consulting Engineers, Faber Maunsell are the design team, and work is to begin on site during May, 2007.
