The Chief Executive of the British Approvals Service for Cables (BASEC) is one of the speakers at a major worldwide conference for the wire and cable industry to be held in Paris.

The conference programme, from10-12 June, will focus on the theme of Creating Value and Controlling Risk in the wire and cable industry.

Dr Jeremy Hodge, Chief Executive of BASEC, will be speaking on certification in the cable market and the benefits of accreditation.

The first day will focus on creating value in the cables business and materials management in a volatile price environment.

This will be followed by a second day of parallel sessions on power cable, OEM cable and will incorporate the KMI Fibre-optics Conference.

Dr Hodge said: “This event will enable the wire and cable industry to gain the very latest intelligence on the most crucial areas of the sector by sharing knowledge and opinions.

“It is valuable for the industry to be able to exchange information on some of the major issues affecting the industry worldwide.”

Speakers at the event, being held at the Rive Gauche Hotel and Conference Centre, include Dr Valerio Battista, Chief Executive Officer Prysmian, Greg Kenny, Chief Executive Officer General Cable, Martin Abbott, Chief Executive London Metal Exchange and Pascal Portevin, Executive Vice President - Strategic Operations Nexans and Dr Xu Xizhou, General Manager Yangtze Optical Fibre & Cable Co.Ltd.
