Q & A of the Day – Can YY cable to be used to wire a house?
This Q & A is one of thousands posted in our Technical Expertise area, and answered on a daily basis by our Voltimum Experts.

Question: Is there any thing in the regulations that states that you can't wire a domestic property in YY type cable?

Answer: BS 7671 2008 (2011) does not preclude the use of flexible cables - such as YY cable - as fixed wiring in an electrical installation, but they are subject to the requirements of Regulation 521.9.1.

Therefore, you should ensure that the intended cable meets these requirements before installing it.
