Q & A of the Day – Can I use another phase to feed a consumer unit in a building extension?
This Q & A is one of thousands posted in our Technical Expertise area, and answered on a daily basis by our Voltimum Experts.

Question: I'm working on a large domestic property having a three-phase supply which is fully loaded on one phase. An extension is being added to the property via a single door from existing property.

Could I use another phase to feed a new consumer unit in the new extension?

Answer: There is no reason why you can't use another phase, and the Regulations do not preclude this option.
