Question: We have been asked to perform a periodic inspection at a warehouse that has fitted a lot of fluorescent and sodium lights. When carrying out the insulation resistance test, is it acceptable to connect live and neutral together, and then test between live-neutral connection and earth without disconnecting each fitting?
Answer: It is acceptable, whilst carrying out a periodic inspection report, to make an insulation resistance test between live and neutral connected together to earth only, where it is impractical to disconnect each fitting.
