Schneider Electric has introduced a new range of power meters, the PM700 series, to provide users with all of the basic measurement capabilities needed for monitoring an electrical installation:
These compact - 96 x 96 x 50 mm deep – Merlin Gerin power meter units by Schneider Electric feature a large, easy-to-read display allowing all three phases and neutral to be shown simultaneously.
The PM700 has an intuitive menu-driven interface accessed through four buttons, to guide operators easily through the different PowerLogic levels. A green back light makes it easy to read the unit in extreme lighting conditions and from a wide range of viewing angles. To further help users, the anti-glare and scratch resistant display features large digits to ensure accurate readings.
Three versions:
The PM700 series comprises three versions, each of which has an integrated display and provides metering measurements, such as power factor, frequency, kWh and kVArh, including total harmonic distortion (THD) and min/max values. The basic model has no communication capability and gives demand, THD and min/max values. The pulse version features two pulse outputs and the Modbus version can communicate with other devices at 9600/19200 Baud via a two-wire RS 485.
The PM700 can be used in many applications, including panel instrumentation, sub-metering and cost allocation. Remote monitoring of electrical installations can easily be achieved by integrating the PM700 with other PowerLogic devices using RS 485 Modbus communications.
