The IEE Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations

The law requires you from 1 January 2005 to meet the requirements of the Building Regulations. This new guide has been written so that electricians can meet the requirements not only of Part P: Fixed Installations in Dwellings, but also other relevant Building Regulations. It is written to meet the needs of those studying for the Level 2 Domestic Installers award. The new guide includes simple standardised circuits, with full colour pictures and a comprehensive index.

The guidance is designed-to provide information to meet:

  • The competence requirements for a Principle Duty Holder and a Qualified Supervisor as required by Electrotechnical Assessment Scheme (EAS) Minimum Technical Competence of Enterprises (level A) that undertake Electrical Installation Work in Dwellings.
  • The competence requirements for a Level B operative for a limited scope (non-electrotechnical) enterprise defined in Part B of Electrotechnical Assessment Scheme (EAS) Framework for Minimum Technical Competence of Enterprises.
  • The City and Guilds.
  • The EMTA Awards Ltd Level 2 certificate for a domestic installer.

Domestic circuit schedules that comply with BS 7671: Requirements for electrical installations (IEE Wiring Regulations) are described. They are not necessarily the most cost effective for any particular installation, but have the advantage of being simply and generally applicable.
