This question concerns electrical power to a jacuzzi and the relates zones. It has been answered by the ECA (Theme – Regulations & Legislation):
Question: I'm still trying to get a definitive answer regarding the zone under a whirlpool bath/jacuzzi, but seem to be getting nowhere. The whirlpool bath that's being installed has extra low voltage (ELV) lighting and an ELV pump fed by a transformer.
What I would like to clarify is can I install an un-switched fused connection switch (FCU) under the jacuzzi to supply the equipment. The jacuzzi panel can't be removed without a tool and to my reading of the regulations this is outside the zones. The pipework feeding the jacuzzi are all plastic and all circuits are RCD protected in the entire house. I also intend to install a 20A DP switch for good measure outside the bathroom.
Does this setup seem OK?
Answer: Based on the information you have provided, yes you can install an un-switched FCU under the whirlpool housing.
