Q & A of the Day – Are there distance requirements for switchgear/service points?

Question: Is there a regulation which specifies the distance around, and in front of, switchgear and service points that satisfies Regulation 15 of the Electricity at Work Act?

Answer: IEC 60947 will confirm distances requirements as a rule. As to ABB switches, they can be mounted next to each other - and depth is not a problem because of the handle adding to the overall depth.
