GIVE SOMETHING BACK TO THE INDUSTRY AND PLAY A PART IN INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF ELECTRICIANS Do you have a story to tell? Keen to give the right advice to people looking to become an electrician? You could take part in some great initiatives that allow you to share your experiences with young people and let them know exactly what’s involved in the industry. Share your personal perspective and convey clearly what skills and attributes you need to succeed. Via the following programmes you could carry out online or in-person careers advice, work experience placements and much more. Give as much or as little time as you can spare: STEM Ambassadors – as a STEM Ambassador (STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) you could hold a career talk or practical workshop for a primary or secondary school, college or youth/community organisation. Speakers for Schools – this initiative arranges careers talks, plus virtual and reallife work experience placements or online projects. Become an online mentor - in just 45 mins you could hold an online mentoring session via the Youth Group’s ‘Mentor Me’ programme and make a real difference to a young person interested in the electrical industry.
