Question: In the definitions section of BS7671:2008 (the 17th Edition), the term 'distribution circuit' is in there, but the term 'sub-main' isn't.

Is the term 'sub-main' simply another name for a distribution circuit?

Answer: It states in the definition of a distribution circuit that a distribution circuit connecting a outlying building or a separate installation is sometimes called a sub-main.
