Voltimum is the leading internet portal for the electrical industry. It went live in 6 countries within Europe in February 2003.
The portal is backed by 7 leading European manufacturers of electrical installation products: ABB, Legrand, Nexans, Osram, Philips, Prysmian and Schneider Electric, who have invested over Eu 20 million in the project.
Other manufacturers join the Voltimum online catalogue regularly as they see this unique initiative as an opportunity to increase the awareness of their products, being used on a daily basis by electrical contractors.
The initiative was first announced to the press in October 2000 and since then technical architecture of the portal has been designed and developed. Also in this period, 6 locally based teams were put in place to develop the portal in each country, adapting the portal to the needs of the local market and working with local providers of appropriate content.
