Eaton’s metering solutions save time and money because they avoid the need to order factory-built assemblies with bespoke metering. There is no need for contracts to be delayed while installers wait for boards to be built; instead they can order distribution boards and meter packs through their normal distributor when they are needed.
The meters are pre-installed in the enclosures, together with current transformers and wiring looms, so that installers have a minimum of on-site wiring. Installations can be completed on time, at a competitive price, and with improved margins.
Eaton’s L2 metering products fall into two broad categories:- 1. Distribution boards with integral meters.
2. Separate meter packs for use with Eation Series G panelboards and Memshield 2 distribution boards
The range includes solutions for Type A (single-phase) and Type B (three-phase) duty.
The options include split metering so that lighting and small power loads can be metered separately at sub-distribution level.
Some meters are for direct connection (i.e. the incoming supply feeds into the meter which then feeds the distribution board) but the majority use current transformers. All provide for visual readout and pulsed output kWh measurement and many can provide visual indication of other parameters such as voltage, current, power factor etc. OFGEM and MID certification is normal.
All these options for panelboards and distribution boards are covered by just 20 catalogue numbers, making for easy specification and simplified stockholding for the electrical wholesaler.
Eaton’s split metering solution can also save sub-mains cabling – where meters would normally be installed in a main switchboard with separate cables to feed lighting and small power loads, it is now possible to use a single feeder to the distribution board and carry out the metering at this point.
