From 1st April 2008, the previous grant cap of 35% of system costs has been increased to 50% to make it even more attractive for schools, charities and other not-for-profit organisations to ‘go green’ and reduce their carbon footprint. For ground source heat pumps, the grants can contribute to the capital costs, the ground works and the commissioning of the system.
Chris Davis, head of renewables at Dimplex, comments: “The LCBP2 grants have been enormously popular with the public sector, with more than 60 projects to date receiving grant offers for funding for ground source heat pumps, and well over half of these specifying Dimplex equipment. This increase in the funding limit will make renewable heating solutions an even more affordable option for this sector.”
Since the beginning of the public sector stream of LCBP, Dimplex has helped a wide variety of organisations to access the grants. Successful projects include an extension at a primary school in Norfolk, a new build RNLI station on the Wirral, a ‘green energy’ technology trial at housing association properties in East Anglia and a visitor centre at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
Dimplex has over 25 years’ experience of heat pumps in Europe and the UK and is one of only three companies appointed by BERR as a framework supplier of ground source heat pumps. To support its product range, it has an established national network of approved installer partners who have not only received extensive training on the Dimplex range, but are also Clearskies approved and have been installing heat pumps for a number of years so can bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to any installation.
