Question: I have a customer looking for 1 square mm heat resisting cable to IEC 60245-7 (1994), with a temperature range of up to 110oC. Is this a correct specification, ie: the 110oC?

Answer: This specification sounds sensible and the temperature rating is correct for this type of cable.

The standard referred to is:

IEC 60245-7 Rubber Insulated Cables - Rated Voltages up to and Including 450/750 V - Part 7: Heat Resistant Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Rubber Insulated Cables. Published 1994, with Amendment 1 published 1997.

Similar small size cables (for 1mm sq) are available to European standards, and these would be harmonised types H05G-U (solid core), H05G-K (flexible). The relevant British Standards for these is BS 6007:2006, Electric cables. Single core unsheathed heat-resisting cables for voltages up to and including 450/750 V, for internal wiring.

These BS 6007 cables are also EVA insulated and rated at 110oC.
