|
At light and building OSRAM showcased numerous new products which enable us to actively contribute to climate protection and help reduce the load on the environment.
OSRAM’s innovative high-tech products provide better and better light for more and more people, with reduced energy consumption and reduced CO2 emissions.
Key innovations included HALOGEN ENERGY SAVERS in mains and low voltage with their energy saving XENON and IRC technology offering 30% energy saving, the new LUMILUX T5 XT triphosphor tube a high end product for industrial lighting, powerful metal halide lamps POWERSTAR HQI and POWERBALL HCI with its white, highly efficient light and an array of extremely flexible LED modules and LED retrofit alternatives including the NEW PARATHOM CLASSIC - LED technology in the classic light bulb shape but using a fraction of the energy of conventional lamps.
Why OSRAM invests heavily on innovative sustainable products Energy facts of traditional lighting methods show that artificial lighting accounts for 16% of domestic energy usage in the UK and it is estimated that there are about 903 million light bulbs in Britain’s homes. 98% of homes are still using old-fashioned incandescent lamps that only convert 5% of the energy they use into light. The general spend just on energy is around £19 billion a year to light homes in the UK.
