Question: An existing domestic installation has a TT supply with the old voltage operated circuit breaker in-situ before the fuse board. It is proposed to replace the fuseboard with a 100mA/30mA RCD split-load consumer unit. Would the original voltage operated breaker be OK left in-situ, or would it cause any conflict with the new RCD set up?

Answer: We would recommend that the original voltage operated breaker be removed from the installation to avoid any possibility of it causing nuisance tripping.
